At Harlem Park East Community Development Corporation, we have witnessed the existing inequalities across the United States being tragically intensified because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Although things are improving for most Americans many families and individuals across the U.S. continue to face financial and food instability and the threat of homelessness.

Too many families and individuals in our communities are at risk. Their health is at risk. Their financial security is in jeopardy and, in turn, so are their homes.

We want to help

In response to national and local efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have moved all in-person client interactions and classes will be completed on-line and all Counseling Sessions will be done over the phone. First time homebuyers are mandated to attend a (HUD approved) first time buyer workshop to receive federal, state and/or Baltimore City/County grants and loans. Homebuyer Workshops are FREE.

You must register in advance by contacting our office.  A homebuyer must also have a one-on-one counseling session, to receive a certificate. Both the workshop and one on one are required for any designated funding for first time homebuyers. There are NO exceptions.

In our first-time homebuyers (pre-purchase) workshops, a potential homebuyer will receive:

  • Default/Foreclosure Prevention Counseling
  • Pre-Purchase Counseling
  • Reverse Mortgage/Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) Counseling
  • Rental Counseling
  • Housing Literacy and Counseling Workshops
